Cagbalete Island; Travel Guide



Cagbalete Island Is a 1,640.4874-hectare property located east of Quezon Province (in Luzon, north of the Philippines). Part of Mauban, Quezon, it rest along the waters of Lamon Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Although all areas of the Island are privately owned, the southwestern part of it is populated by a number of visayan fisherfolks who have settled in the idle lands. Known as “Sabang”, this fishing village can be estimated to the populated by over thousand people. These people have learned to live through by earning money from fishing, faming, woodcutting, getting lumber and copra, and drying/processing seaweeds.. 

How to Get There Cagbalete Island is under the jurisdiction of the town of Mauban, Quezon. To go there, catch a Lucena bound bus in Kamias, Cubao, Alabang or Buendia. From Buendia, Jac Liner, Jam Transit, Lucena Liner and Ceres Transport have buses bound to Lucena that stop at Lucena Grand Central  Terminal. Buses leave almost every hour every day for approximately three hours bus ride from Buendia, Pasay.   •   If your from San Pablo City Laguna, You can also catch a Bus from Medical or hi-way, to Lucena Grand Terminal. Bus fare is ranging from P80-P90. Air-conditioned Bus.


  •   From Lucena Grand Central Terminal, catch a non-air con mini bus to Mauban for almost two hours travel time, fare is around P50-60. The last trip is at 6 pm. Alternatively, aircon buses to Mauban are located in SM City Lucena for P80-90, with trip up to 9 pm. Travel time via aircon bus is at 1 hour.

  • Upon getting off the bus in Mauban, it is only a short walk to the port/pantalan where passenger boats to Cagbalete Island are stationed. Trips are scheduled at  10:00 AM and 4:00 PM daily, for  P180 per person it’s a two way fare. 2 boats are available for transfer to Cagbalete Island. The boats can ferry around 50-60 people. They usually drop off passengers at “Sabang”  although they sometimes drop off their passengers directly to the south eastern part of the island where the resorts Villa Cleofas and MVT Sto. Nino are located. You may also arrange a private boat through your resort, rate is P4,000 two-way ( Mauban-Cagbalete-Mauban) and can ferry up to 25 people.
  Note: For your drinking water you can buy Mineral water in gallons in Mauban    
          Port and the porters will be the one who will bring them to the boat. 
          The water is P50.00 and the deposit is 100 per bottle. But when  
          you return you can get the deposit for the water, just show
          them the receipt. 



Where to Stay:

Note: There can always be a person can bring your bags and other luggage to the resort but of  
         Course, there is a labor for it. You must negotiate very well to them in terms of how much  
         to pay for it.
         You can always arrange the resorts for ready food or if they can cook for your everyday  
         meals. But take note it can always cost much(Just so you know)

There are also many stores beside Pansacola Beach Resort, a 10 minutes’ walk from Pansacola.

Kitchen utensils is readily available; Drinking glass, plates, spoon & fork, and other cooking utensils. You will pay P30.00/head and its good for 1 day.

Mvt Sto. Niño is almost an hour walk from sabang to the resort. A local can guide you the way to the resort and you can just give them P100 for the guide.

 *The ideal Month to go here is during summer.. its a big No for ber months, we actually tried the month of October and there is a typhoon along our way... Big waves, strong wind, and heavy rain.. but thank God the group are safe....
